![]() As I stated, I had no issues with the apps, and user reviews are generally positive. It is certainly true that whatever cleaning you do will be undone by time as mores apps are opened and closed. Note: Not everyone agrees these apps solve RAM problems. Running Apple Diagnostics and optimizing performance with CleanMyMac X, iStat Menus, and App Tamer prolongs the life of your Mac. To make the most out of your Mac, regularly check its performance with iStat Menus and App Tamer. Memory Diag requires OS X 10.9 or later and a 64 bit processor. Doesn't matter if you are a Mac power user or Mac-newbie, these tools will do system testing and optimization for you. Download Memory Diag for macOS 10.10 or later and enjoy it on your Mac. Memory Diag is free for a limited time, so grab it if you need some RAM optimization. Read reviews, compare customer ratings, see screenshots and learn more about Memory Diag. I could not verify this, and every time I checked Memory Diag it was running smoothly and not bogging down my Mac. Other configurations of 1, 2, and 3 DIMMs are for diagnostic use only. Configurations of 5, 7, 9, 10, and 11 DIMMs are not supported. Additionally, LRDIMM modules must all be of the same size. ![]() There were some complaints from a few users that the app itself was claiming 100% CPU time on their Macs. NOTE: Mac Pro can use either RDIMM or LRDIMM, but they cannot be combined. The graphic thermometer is small, and doesn't draw your attention. The only thing I would change is to have an actual numerical display of RAM usage in the menu bar. The app has nice clear menus, and the developer maintains an FAQ on his website. Safari can grab a lot of RAM, along with Photoshop (which I am using almost all day long). It's possible to have so much RAM filled that Memory Diag can't optimize, but it will suggest which apps to close. Memory Diag tells you what things are draining your computer's memory. I'm often near the limit, which slows up my Mac and forces OS X to use the hard disk as virtual memory. The menu bar icon is dynamic and gives you a quick look at how much utilization your RAM is getting. The app lives on your menu bar, and there are three themes to choose from. Like a lot of memory utilities (including the OS X Activity Monitor), it will analyze your RAM usage, tell you what applications are using the most resources, and offer to clean things up by purging unused processes. ^_^ Other than that, it seems to be great.Memory Diag is a nice free utility app available on the Mac App Store. So… Yeah, if the devs read this, I request that they avoid having that window show as the computer’s shutting down. Any Windows, Linux or Mac system may be used. It seemed like it was slowing the shutdown process, too. MemTest86 can boot from a USB flash drive or, with Linux systems, by the boot loader (for example, LILO or Grub). I’m not entirely sure when it’s designed to show up, but I know that it DID show up when I told the computer to shut down: it ended up showing on a black screen, with this weird, unexpected smile, as I was sitting in the dark. The one complaint has less to do with the function of the app itself, and more to do with the rating-request screen. The application monitors RAM usage on your computer and frees up unused memory with one click. It increases your Mac’s performance by cleaning cached memory, making more memory available for new apps. =) Overall, this app seems straightforward and easy-to-use, while still having a good amount of options. Memory Cleaner (was Boost & Memory) is an app to monitor memory usage and clean up your memory. I also tried the memory cleaning, and it seems to work well. Sure enough, I could actually SEE how the app took up more and more memory - and how it’s self-cleaning was lacking - by watching the memory chart. I grabbed this app when I suspected that another little app had a memory-inefficient process, making it hog up all the free RAM despite being so simple.
